In partnership with Busboys & Poets Focus In! Film Series, co-executive producers Marilyn Bennett and the Rev. Gil Caldwell will host a screening of their 35-minute documentary From Selma to Stonewall: Are We There Yet? to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Following the film, there will be an action-focused conversation between experienced leaders/activists about intersectional strategies for today. This humorous, thoughtful and inspiring time of storytelling and justice-carving will affirm the work of longtime activists and inspire new activists to get involved with the present day inter weave of justice issues.

We enthusiastically invite you to participate in the interactive live stream as the event unfolds by hosting a Stonewall to Where? Watch Party. Simply invite friends over to view it together! Or organize an informal gathering at your center, organization office or business. Many of you have insights for this crucial conversation. Send your comments and questions, share fun photographs from your locale (we want to know where you are!), AND send links that we can list on our website to help newcomers throughout the country to get involved. Use the hashtag #FromSelmatoStonewall on social media!

You can view the 35-minute film From Selma to Stonewall: Are We There Yet? any time, at https://vimeo.com/ondemand/35fromselmatostonewall. Then, on May 13, join the D.C. event when the live stream starts at 7:30 pm Eastern. The documentary features Rev. Caldwell, a black, straight preacher and Marilyn Bennett, a white, lesbian activist who form an unusual bond as they seek to find the intersection between the Civil Rights and the LGBTQ Equality movements, yesterday and today.

A big thanks to our event partners: Busboys & Poets, Film Fest DC+, Building Bridges, The Myrna Loy and the E. Rhodes & Leona B. Carpenter Foundation!
