Despite Demolitions, Jerusalem Peace Center Stands The United Methodist News Service features an article by Jan Read stating that against the odds, the Beit Arabiya Center for Peace in Jerusalem’s West Bank is still standing. Formely the home of a Palestinian family that was bull dozed by Israeli Forces four times and rebuilt by an international coalition of volunteers, the house became a Center for Peace with funds largely provided by 400 United Methodist churches in Minnesota. A demolition ordered last September by the Israeli Forces has not happened to date perhaps influenced by the phone calls, letters and personal visits to U.S. leaders in an effort to bring international pressure on the Israeli policy.
