Peace Coalition (PPC) Promotes The
Palestinian Peace Coalition is promoting a “Culture of Peace” program
in dozens of workshops, seminars, summer camps and
other activities in villages, towns and refugee camps of the West Bank
The PPC promotes democracy
as the main pillar of peace and tries to give young
Palestinian men and women the tools to become more active in their
society. In 2004, the
programs involved 10,000 youth among sports groups,
university students, and security agencies, according to an article
on the Miftah website.
The PPC cooperates with the Israeli Peace Coalition
(IPC). The PPC is financed by international donors, expecially the
european Commission
and European countries that have supported the Geneva
Initiative. The ppc is chaired by the Executive Committee of the PLO,
former minister
of culture and information, Yaser Abed Rabo. The IPC
is headed by former minister of justice and member of the knesset,
Yossi Beilin. Both Rabo
and Beilin were co-authors of the unofficial Geneva
Initiative peace plan. For mor information see www.miftah.org. |
