How You Can Be Involved Making A Difference! Become a member! MFSA has chapters in 38 of the UMCs 65 Annual Conferences within the US. For caring passionate persons in Annual Conferences with no MFSA chapter, become a national member until we are able to form a chapter in your Annual Conference. In the meantime we will put you in touch with other MFSA members in your area. Becoming a member of MFSA means you will be joining other activists who care about issues of justice and peace and actively work to make a difference. Each MFSA chapter is an autonomous gathering of people connected to other chapters and the national office by common concern for justice and peace, information sharing and mutual support. Because of their unique situations and callings, the chapters vary in organization, goals, leadership structure and style. Four common components of MFSA chapters are: Action, Education, Sharing, and Spiritual Growth. At the Annual Conference level, chapters publish newsletters, work cooperatively with Boards of Church and Society and other conference agencies, introduce legislation at Annual Conference sessions, sponsor seminars and hold other events to inform educate and motivate people to take action for justice. The national staff of MFSA publishes a bimonthly newsletter, the Social Questions Bulletin, providing information about current justice struggles, social analysis and theological reflection, action alerts, news from MFSA chapters and members, and reviews of outstanding resources.
